Avian Leukosis

Lymphoid leukosis, caused by avian leukosis virus (ALV), is a neoplastic disease of chickens that may be associated with tumor development, decreased egg production and increased nonspecific mortality. ALV is transmitted vertically from hen to chick through the egg and horizontally from bird to bird by direct or indirect contact.
