Pasteurella multocida

Pasteurella multocida (PM) causes avian or fowl cholera, a highly contagious disease that can affect a range of avian species. Transmission occurs through contact with bodily discharge of an infected animal, contaminated soil, equipment or people. Clinical signs include loss of appetite, diarrhea, coughing; nasal, ocular and oral discharge; swollen joints, wattles and face; and sudden death. P. multocida can cause a range of diseases in mammals, including humans.
